The Heart Behind Framboos
Framboos began with a love for gelato and a calling to create something joyful, meaningful, and sweet in every sense of the word.
On 1 September 2017, Framboos opened its doors at Redberry Farm in George, bringing handcrafted gelato to locals and travellers alike. But behind every scoop is a story – and at the centre of it is Marike Swanepoel.
Years earlier, Marike worked as a waiter at Redberry Farm, learning the rhythm of hospitality and growing a deep respect for people, process, and passion. Over time, her connection with Redberry farm owner Mark Miller grew, and when he envisioned a gelato shop on the farm, he knew Marike was the one to build it. With heart, courage, and the support of her husband Hendri, Marike stepped into the opportunity – and Framboos was born as a business of its own, full of vision, flavour, and purpose.


More Than Ice Cream
From the beginning, it wasn’t just about ice cream. Framboos was created to be a space of creativity, growth, and community – a place to disciple, develop, and equip. Over the years, it has become not only a dessert shop, but also a tool to help young people grow, gain confidence, and prepare for life beyond the scoop counter. Through mentorship and intentional leadership, Framboos is committed to shaping lives, not just serving desserts.
As life at Framboos grew, so did Marike’s family. From newlywed to proud mom of three children, she’s built Framboos around family values – fun, laughter, grace, and excellence in every detail.
For almost a decade, Framboos has been serving the George community and its visitors with flavour and purpose. Whether you’re here for your favourite cone or your very first visit, you’re always welcome. This is more than just dessert. It’s where joy is handcrafted – one scoop at a time.

Our passion for quality shines in our exclusive signature flavours — like the indulgent Strawberry Pavlova, made with berries straight from Redberry Farm, as well as our Blueberry and Raspberry gelato, crafted from the best local fruit the Southern Cape has to offer.
With a menu that’s grown to include Belgian waffles, mini pancake puffs, gelato cookie sandwiches, and more, Framboos isn’t just a dessert stop — it’s a place where joyful moments and meaningful connections are always on the menu.
